Project Role:
After having reviewed the existing guarding in the bulk coal winder tower at West Cliff Colliery, Teleo Engineering re-designed the guarding to meet the requirements of the Australian Standards and provide suitable protection for workers at height. This included the following:
- Site visits underground,
- Construction drawings and drawing pack,
- Design as per AS4024.1 – Safety of Machinery; and
- Management of the construction process.
Teleo Engineering also oversaw the installation of the guarding in the underground environment. This included managing and directing tradesmen on site as well as providing technical expertise in the field.
By addressing the deficiencies in the existing guard system, Teleo Engineering delivered a means of protection that meets the requirements of Australian Standards, but more importantly, provides a safer and more secure working environment for the men and women of West Cliff Colliery.
Project Assignment:
Teleo Engineering provided engineering and project expertise to design and install guarding to fit non-uniform structures and machinery in the underground environment.
